Introduction

Let me introduce myself – and this blog! I’ve always loved words. As I add more experience to my life, I have also added a greater interest in where words come from. (Note to self: a word for another time is etymology J). An introduction to a new word (or a new definition for an old word) is certainly useful for my Scrabble or Words With Friends prowess!

The intention of this blog is to introduce (random) words and their meaning/origin and then weave the word into a short blog post. In general, words will be chosen on a whim, based on time, event and place. They may (or not) have relevance to English grammatical concepts, provide an explanation of grammatical terms, introduce general writing tips, discuss humorous aspects of the weird language called ‘English’ … or they may just be the outcome of idle meanderings.

So, this is the lead-up to the main part!
